2024 Halliday Wine Companion

The Halliday Wine Companion is your ultimate guide to the captivating world of wine. Originally produced and curated by the renowned Australian wine critic James Halliday, this comprehensive compendium offers expert insights, unbiased reviews, and invaluable information on wineries, regions, and vintages. Best’s Wines has been consistently rated a red 5-star winery for over a decade as well as winning several key awards during the same period. Best’s 2014 Thomson Family Shiraz was awarded 99 points and Wine of the Year in the 2017 Wine Companion and more recently, in the 2023 Companion, the 2021 Foudre Ferment Riesling was also awarded Wine of the Year, White Wine of the Year and Riesling of the Year. Remarkably it was only the second white wine to have won Wine of the Year award in the history of the Companion. In 2020 Best’s Wines was also named Best Value Winery of the Year, an acknowledgement of the quality vs. price of the wines produced at Best’s Great Western. 2021 LSV Shiraz

“Oak adds coffee and cedar notes, arguably a little too keenly, but this will settle in time and in any case, the fruit flavours here are pretty gorgeous. Boysenberry and redcurrant flavours come infused with florals, the aftertaste adding tonic-like herb and twig notes. It’s plush up front, savoury through the finish, almost like a reverse mullet.
